It seems only fitting that the game bringing back this series after so long is also the first game I ever featured on the YouTube channel, Marvel’s third entry into the LEGO franchise, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2.

Released in 2017 and featuring an epic comic book story which spans both space and time, LEGO Marvel 2 sees Kang the Conqueror on the rampage, stealing civilizations from planets across history and transporting them to his very own World of Worlds, Chronopolis. After witnessing Kang’s attack on Xandar, the Guardians of the Galaxy arrive on Earth only to be transported, along with modern-day Manhattan, to the mysterious planet out of time.

Now, the Guardians, along with the Avengers, the Defenders, the Inhumans and a multiverse of other Marvel superheroes, must team up to navigate Chronopolis, take down the worst villains the galaxy can throw at them, stop Kang, and return everyone to their proper place in the space-time continuum.

Overall, four years later and this is still an amazing game to play and it’s very clear that LEGO DC Supervillains owes a lot to LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 in terms of near perfect mechanics, a large diverse open-world and the confidence to go completely mental with comic book source material and make something truly great.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is a shining example of how good TT Games can be at their best and how a truly engrossing comic book story can elevate a game beyond it’s peers.

If you’re a massive Marvel fanboy or fangirl, you’ll love the Easter eggs. If you’re a casual Marvel fan, prepare to learn A LOT about the comics. Either way there’s a lot of enjoyment for all to be had.

Let’s Play | LEGO Marvel’s Avengers 8 – No Strings On Me

Avengers

With the fall of SHIELD, and the rise of HYDRA within it’s rank, the Avengers have been on a worldwide search for Loki’s sceptre. Having finally recovered it, Tony Stark makes an interesting discovery, the stone inside it contains an AI…

As the revels at Avengers tower come to a close, an unexpected guest arrives.

As we begin Age Of Ultron, the Avengers will finally get their first taste of what going up against a super-intelligent, AI robot feels like.

Part 8: No Strings On Me

Primarily based on the events from Avengers Assemble and Avengers: Age of Ultron, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers takes the bricked adventure deep into the heart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While these movies alone provide more than enough iconic moments to produce a fantastic video game, the developers went one step further and integrated key points from Captain America’s two solo outings, Iron Man’s threequel (The less said about Trevor, the better) and Thor’s adventure into the nine realms during the convergence.

Not limited to the same linear path as the movies, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers cleverly plays through the timeline of the MCU in such a way that you don’t always see what is coming next. A great example of this is very early on in LEGO’s unique retelling of the first Avengers movie as we are slowly introduced to the core heroes. The gym scene with Steve Rogers fighting through the pain and loss he’s dealing with, which in the movie is presented by flashbacks, sends us hurtling back through time to take on Red Skull in 1940’s Europe.

Released in 2016, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers continued TT Games’ great work with movie to LEGO game transitions and gave fans a chance to experience these iconic movies and their amazing character in a new bricked up way.

Minikit #1 (00:22):
At the very beginning of the level, head to the back of the room to find a crate containing vibranium which can be manipulated using magic. Use magic to put the metal into the large machine next to the crate in order to release the minikit

Minikit #2 (01:04, 03:46, 03:58, 06:14, 06:45):
There are five mine carts with piles of gold in them scattered throughout the level. The first is right at the very start of the level. They’re easy to spot on the story’s linear path. Destroy all five for the minikit.

Minikit #3 (01:12):
Still at the very beginning of the level, this time head to the front of the screen and down the small staircase. In the top left, you will see a golden panel, laser it to reveal a grappling hook that once pulled will reveal a silver-sided elevator contained the minikit.

Minikit #4 (01:47):
After crossing over the mine cart track you’ll find a Cap-Shield point on the platform. Aim and throw the shield as required for the minikit.

Minikit #5 (02:36):
Once you’re at the point where you are clearing the track using the crane, use the crane a second time on the other blue crate for the minikit.

Minikit #6 (04:08):
From the spot where you collect the previous minikit, fly up and to the back of the screen where you will find a hidden platform with some debris on it. Destroy the debris and build a gravity mine booster. Use Star-Lord to retrieve the minikit using a gravity mine.

Minikit #7 (06:47:):
At the final part of the first section of the level (prior to the fight with Man-Ape), you’ll see a glass panel next to a wheelbarrow. Shatter the glass to reveal a hacking terminal. Hack the terminal for the minikit.

Minikit #8 (07:46):
Also at the final part of the first section, you’ll see a generator to be charged off to the right of the flamethrowers. Use Thor to charge it and retrieve the minikit.

Minikit #9 (08:10):
Next to minikit #7 there is a yellow jackhammer which can be ridden. Ride the thing around the outside of the molten metal puddle until to find a large rock that can be destroyed with the jackhammer to reveal a minikit.

Minikit #10 (08:30):
Once you reach the boss fight, turn left to find a teleport panel. Use it to teleport to a secret platform off to the left of the environment where you’ll find the minikit.

Stan Lee In Peril (04:53):
About halfway through the level, before you send the mine cart up the elevator to the top floor, fly over to the right of the screen and you will see two large Panther statues either side of a waterfall made of lava. Destroy the Panther on the right to reveal a rune point where Doctor Strange can magic the wall behind the Panthers open and release Stan.

Hidden Character Token (05:59):
Below the blue crane there is a grate to climb through. On the other side you will find the character token, Superior Spider-Man.

Minikit #1 (00:22, 01:48, 03:30, 03:45, 05:04):
From the start of the level up to the point where you fight Klaw, there are five posters of Captain America scattered throughout the level.

  1. Can be found right at the very beginning where heading to the back of the screen down you’ll find it on the wall.
  2. On the wall to the left of where you rebound the laser.
  3. Bottom platform accessed by a ladder where you have to unleash the gravity mine.
  4. In the location where you release the gravity mine, fly up to the top platform, it’s on the wall to the right.
  5. As you’re climbing the ladder to the top level where you will meet Klaw, it is on the wall to the left.

Minikit #2 (00:32):
Where you find the first Captain America Poster, fly up to the top platform, destroy all of the crates, build the grappling hooks and use Spider-Man to reveal the minikit.

Minikit #3 (01:09):
After using Cap’s shield to rebound the laser, turn around and there is a crate which can be manipulated using magic. With magic destroy the crate and build the remains into a magic portal to a secret area where the minikit can be found.

Minikit #4 (01:51):
After using Cap’s shield to rebound the laser, you’ll see a bad guy who can be mind-controlled just under where the laser was. Use him to stand on the switch in the room to reveal the minikit.

Minikit #5 (02:18):
Just through the doorway to the right of the previous minikit, you will find a hacking terminal. Once hacked, the locked door next to it will reveal the minikit.

Minikit #6 (03:39):
From the previous minikit, head to the front of the screen to find a ladder to the platform below. Behind the first large pillar on the right, you will find the minikit.

Minikit #7 (03:56):
After using the gravity mine, flip the switch you used originally in this area a second time to release more debris. Build this debris into a rocket which you can then ride. At this point, bad guys will begin appearing, kill 10 of them for the minikit.

Minikit #8 (05:18):
At the very end of the section before you face Klaw, fly up to the far right to find a box that can be manipulated by magic. Do so to release the minikit.

Minikit #9 (06:24):
As you’re flying through the sky in the plane you’ll see yellow and green balloons scattered in the sky. Destroy 10 of them for the minikit. It’s advisable not to attack the Baron until you’ve destroyed the balloons as there is no time limit and the flight path loops around.

Minikit #10 (08:11):
The final minikit requires a bit of skill and a lot of patience. As you’re flying the plane, part of the flight path takes you right around Kang’s citadel. At one of the higher points, there is a minikit floating in the air. It is a very easy one to miss and will require a lot of effort to spot. Be patient and remember that the flight path is a loop.

Stan Lee In Peril (05:50):
At the end of the main area before you head in to meet Klaw, fly down to a lower platform where you’ll find Stan under attack. Kill the bad guys for the minikit.

Hidden Character Token (03:00):
In the lower platform where you find minikit #6, head to the far right of that platform and complete the picture puzzle for the character token.

There are five golden statues scattered around the main area. They’re all easy to spot around the edge of the area. Destroy all five for the minikit.
