“You call this archaeology?”
LEGO Games Retrospective, looking back over the last decade and a bit of TT Games’ LEGO partnership, from the emergence of LEGO Star Wars through to the powerhouse that has been LEGO Dimensions and BEYOND.
While the first LEGO Indiana Jones game offered a bricked version of the three original games in all their glory, I’ve actually decided to skip straight to the sequel. Why? Whereas the first Indy game did a worthy enough job of bringing the three good Jones adventures to life using the Star Wars established template, Indy 2 changed things up quite a bit, and while it’s admirable for a games developer to try new things and not let a concept get scale, this game, in my opinion, was TT Games’ first real misstep with regards to LEGO games.
Before I jump further in, I want to wholeheartedly state that I believe the original LEGO Indiana Jones is a much better and more enjoyable game, but after the superb return to LEGO Star Wars and Batman, it’s humbling to remember that not every bricked world from Traveller’s Tales was as successful.
