LEGO Worlds Coming to Consoles Next Year

LEGOWorlds

LEGO, Warner Bros. and TT Games have announced the release of LEGO Worlds.

Coming February 27 next year, LEGO Worlds is, to quote the press release, “a galaxy of imaginative worlds where players can explore, discover and create together”. It has been in STEAM Early Access since last year, with the intention that users can test it out and provide feedback to aid in ongoing production, and now its general release has been confirmed.

It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and STEAM.

Jonathan Smith, Head of Production for TT Games, says;

“In LEGO Worlds, players will go on an exciting journey to become a Master Builder, in an open-world made completely of LEGO-built environments. Whether customising characters, exploring in vehicles, building structures, or discovering an expansive range of items, characters and creatures throughout the worlds, there’s the freedom to create anything imaginable.”

Adds Warner Bros. Interactive President David Haddad;

“LEGO Worlds expands our LEGO videogame franchise with a new experience that embodies all the fun of physical LEGO brick building. TT Games has created an expansive, digital universe that combines unlimited creativity with the LEGO humour that fans love.”

The title will bring a new dimension to the digital LEGO world, essentially capturing the fundamentals of LEGO. Says Niels Jørgensen, the Vice President of Digital Games for LEGO;

“LEGO® Worlds brings the very essence of LEGO® play – building – to the digital world, more than ever before. We are excited to bring our physical and digital play models closer together and know it will resonate with our core audience – and engage new ones. We believe LEGO® Worlds has the potential to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through its experience of open-ended creative play.”

LEGO Worlds players will be able to find hidden treasures in a variety of environments, and come across such combinations like vampires scaring Yetis and giraffe-riding cowboys. Your quest to become a famed Master Builer can be aided by helping fellow LEGO characters as you move through the worlds.

The game will also offer online multiplayer functionality, allowing you to explore other players’ worlds.

There will also be a separate LEGO Agents DLC pack, which will be exclusive on PlayStation 4 for 90 days.
