This guide will show you how to achieve 100% completion on LEGO Lord of the Rings Level 17 – The Black Gate.
The video will show you what is required to 100% the level with additional detail below for each part. Each level of the core story requires you to collect the following:
- Ten Minikits
- Three Treasures
- A blacksmith design

Minikit #1 (00:19):
At the beginning of the level, while the troll is attacking. Shoot the five targets in the background. Once you hit all five, you’ll receive the minikit.
Minikit #2 (00:40):
As you head to the next section of the level on the left, you’ll see a Gollum wall. Climb it for the minikit.
Minikit #3 (00:54):
Around to the side of the Gollum wall is a strong pull handle. Use it for the minikit.
Minikit #4 (01:52):
Once you’ve made it to the far left section of the level, there is a rope point on the left up to the platform where the minikit is fully visible.
Minikit #5 (02:09):
There’s a secret area accessible by destroying the silver-bricked rocks at the back of this section. Destroy them and head in. Once in the cave, about half way along the path is a part of the wall protected by morgul rocks. Destroy them with Aragorn for the minikit.
Minikit #6 (02:33):
On the far right of the secret cave is a dig spot. Dig up the carrot and a rabbit will find the minikit for you.
Minikit #7 (03:19):
Right next to the rabbit enclosure, there is a minikit handing from the ceiling. There’s a target above to shoot in order to retrieve the minikit.
Minikit #8 (03:43):
To the left of the previous minikit, jump on the pig and ride it through all of the gates that appear. Get all six of the gates for the minikit.
Minikit #9 (04:17):
To the left, just by the entrance, there is a barrel. Destroy it to reveal a rotating mechanism to you to feed the animal below and release the minikit.
Minikit #10 (04:33):
Back outside of the secret cave and use the arrow points to swing up to the higher platform. Before you take out the troll, use the axe point on the right for the final minikit.
Treasure #1 – Handprint Breastplate (01:18):
In the first section on the left, head to the far back around the troll to find a fire point. Light the fire and a chest will fall down. The key for the chest can be found in a dig spot not too far away.
Treasure #2 – Flaming Hat (01:59):
In the far left section, before you go into the secret cave, there is a dig spot just before the rope point. The treasure is in the dig spot.
Treasure #3 – Elven Lute (03:08):
There’s a secret cave, as per minikit #5, head to the far right and use the strong pull handle for the treasure.
Blacksmith Design (01:03):
In the first section on the left, head to the far back around the troll and behind the rocks to the left of the fire point is the design hidden from view.
